A beautiful day at the zoo!

Last week my sister was in town so we went to the #1 ranked zoo in the WORLD! Yes you read that right...the world. I am bummed that we live farther away from it now, but this will always be a must go to play every year for us. My aunt met us there on a perfect spring day!

This post will mostly be pictures, because they are pretty much self explanatory. If you have never been here...add it to your bucket list...and plan an entire day. We only covered half of the zoo (quickly) and were there for 3 hours!

Why on earth did I not think of this before?

I love taking my kids to the Omaha Zoo.  It is ranked in the top 10 zoo's in the United States.  If you have been there, you completely understand why.  That place is awesome!!  We are lucky enough to live an hour and 15 minutes away from this wonderful zoo.  It is getting a bit trickier taking all four kids to crowded places by myself.  We try to go to busy places when public school kids are in school or during off peak times.  So why on earth did I not think about tackling this zoo when it is cold outside?  We had a decent day last week...a whopping 44 degrees!! Heat wave!  Most of the "cool" animals are inside, so we ventured to the zoo for a few hours.  Oh my goodness!  We had such a good time.  We were maybe 1 of 5 families there.  Maybe.  My kids didn't have to fight other kids to get a view of the animals.  Some of the animals seemed to be really excited to see human beings....a little baby gorilla put on quiet a show in front of us...and begged us not to leave...seriously...I am not joking...he clung to the glass and screamed when we walked away.  People started coming as the day progressed, but since the place is so large, we pretty much had it to ourselves.  It was great!  Here are a few pictures from our day....and a few links to our other visits:  HERE  & HERE!

The Zoo!

It is spring! Well I guess some days are spring! I had been wanting to go to the Omaha Zoo with the kids for quiet some time-- actually for the past 3 years-- the last time I went was when Jocelyn was 18 months and I was pregnant with Katelyn. We went in the blazing hot sun and I did not have fun waddling up all of those hills. Anyways, a friend of mine, Emily, gave me the push to go and we went. I invited a friend Reece and her baby girl to come along with us and Emily invited one her friends. We had a really nice time visiting all of the animals and the kids had a good time running around with each other. The weather was wonderful-- even though it got a little hot in the afternoon. If you have ever been to the Omaha zoo it is quiet a large zoo. We didn't make it around the entire thing, but saw the highlights. I can't wait to go back some day to finish it with the kids!
