Since it was Valentine's Day this week our specialty subject in school was the human heart . We are having crazy busy weeks with swimming lessons and other things, so we have been lucky if we get 3 days of school in. Hopefully it will calm down in March. :)
Bible verse for this week:
Mark 12:30: Love the Lord our God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, with all your strength.
Of course you are dying to see a video of my girls saying it...so here it is!
The girls are making a little book with their bible verses.
I found some great handouts on the human heart on the American Heart Associations website. They have ready made lesson plans and tons of activities for kids of all ages. The girls and I discussed how we can keep our heart healthy and what types of food we should eat all the time and what we should eat only sometimes. Of course now I have little watch dogs who critique what we eat around here...I guess that is a good thing. Darn chocolate! I also bought a really cool book from Barnes & Noble on the human body. Very kid friendly with lots of pictures. We also did our normal math, reading, and spelling. Instead of just always writing out their spelling and reading words, I had them spell them out with our letter block set. I love this block set. Katelyn's pictures were upside down...oops.

I'll have to check out the heart website. We plan on doing a "Healthy Bodies" theme soon, so that would be perfect!
