Thinking ahead....

As I grew up, I always thought about what God’s plans were for me. Was I to get married and have kids? Would he come back before I was of age to even get married or have kids? Well so far he hasn’t, but he could by the time I post this blog entry…he could come tomorrow…we really don’t know.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

(The New Testament mentions over 300 times about the Lord coming back….)

So far, the Lord has blessed me with a wonderful husband and 3 kids and one more on the way. My thoughts have transferred from myself, to will we still be around for Sean and I to see our own kids get married and have kids. Personally I would rather have the Lord Jesus Christ come back…but I would say (not positive here) people think so much about the futures of themselves and of their children’s that they almost in a sense would like for Jesus Christ to delay his coming. Sad..

Because we don’t know exactly when he is coming, my desires for my children would be to see each of them get saved and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

1 John 5:1-13 God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

(also many other verses in the Bible on how you can get saved and have eternal life)

Another thing I would like to see is each one of them to be baptized. The believing part is the inward part of what one is to do to be saved, but a baptism is the outward symbol that shows a believer going down under the water as a picture of Jesus’ death and burial for sin. Coming back out of the water is a picture of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. Baptism shows a believer is united with Jesus in His death and resurrection. Because Jesus died and rose to conquer sin, at salvation a believer dies to his old, sinful self and is raised to new life in Christ. Baptism is a picture of what happens to a believer at salvation.

Acts 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 6:3-5 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection

(Also lots of other verses about baptism…after you are saved…)

Right now, Jocelyn can tell you how to get saved and shows concern for people, especially family that are not saved. She likes to share with Katelyn mostly how if she (Katelyn) does a bad thing that she needs to ask Jesus to forgive her…she needs to work on herself a little more though. She can tell you the story of how Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose again and that we need to believe that so we can go to heaven. She wants to get baptized, so one of these days she will…Sean and I have discussed it, but she needs to work on the understanding of repentance a little more. Kind of hard to judge another’s heart, but this is our first go around with one of our kids, so pray that we can help them understand clearly what the Bible says.
